An attracrive and unusual antique French Grand Tour thermometer in silvered and patinated bronze surmounted by a bronze figure of Napoleon. Set on an unusual square bronze base decorated with acanthus leaf mouldings and a wreath to the front. This rises to a good cylindrical silvered bronze column with alcohol thermometer and an engraved scale for both Farenheit and Reaumur. The column is surmounted by the figure of Napoleon in a long coat and tricorn hat with his arm across his chest. Circa 1840. 10.5 inches high by 2.5 inches square ( 26 cms by 6.25 cms)
