A French Empire ormolu figural mantel clock. Set upon large ormolu paw feet, the base with an applied ormolu freize in high relief probably showing King Minos in Judgement as two soldiers fight. To the clock housing are trophies of war including shield, battle helmet and spear. Also a tablet which proclaims in French " Table des Lois de Minos" or "Table of the Law of minos". To the right of the clock is a classical figure in short classical tunic and with flowers in his hair speaking from a book. He also has a chain of office about his neck. 8 day bell striking movement with silk suspension pendulum. Striking the hours and halves on a bell. Movement numbered 164. Convex white enamel dial.
