Antique French Empire ormolu mantel clock by Denisart a Paris.
A very fine French Directoire mantel clock of pillar form. Superb quality and condition of the original ormolu. Rectangular base with fine leaf moulding. Four finely wrought reeded pillars on rectangular bases and with fine capitals. Domed top to case decorated with moulding to edge of leaf and dart. Superb ormolu bezel with fringed ormolu curtain below. Fine convex white enamel dial with Roman hour chapters and Arabic minute numerals at the quarter markers. Fine ly finished cast ormolu hands. Signed to the dial above 6 o'clock Denisart a Paris for Jean-Pierre Denisart, made Master in 1770 and known to have been working in the Rue de thionville between 1800 and 1810. 8 day bell striking movement with silk suspension but with gridiron pendulum. France circa 1805. 15.5 inches high by 9.25 inches wide by 5.25 inches deep ( 38.75 cms by 23 cms by 13 cms).
