A very finely modelled figural seal of a Victorian sportsman or gentleman punter. Dressed in cap, short sleeved shirt, knee length britches with long socks and flat shoes. He holds what appears to be a punt pole. He stands in a hardstone base perfectly cut to receive the seal with simply the tight fit of the seal to base keeping the seal tightly held. The seal is unused. The seal is signed to the bronze "J. Boese 84". French circa 1884.
