A singing bird box in gilt bronze with a miniature of young people in an arcadian setting in the lid. Set on paw feet and having blue jewelling to the front and back of the case. When the operating lever is activated the lid opens & the bird pops up through the grille and begins singing. At the same time he rotates backwards & forwards, opens and shuts his beak and flaps his wings. When he has finished he pops back into the case & the lid shuts. There is an integral key in the base. Probably German mid 20th century.7 inches wide by 3.5 inches deep and 2.75 inches high ( 17.5 cms by 8.75 cms by 6.9 cms).
