A rare and unusual Napoleon III table mirror in ormolu and blue tarquin marble. Of a good size the mirror stands on a circular blue tarquin base that is reeded and ormolu mounted. The oval mirror has flying cupids attached top and bottom, the lower cupid is flying among clouds within which can be seen Cupid's quiver and looks as if he is holding the mirror in the air. The higher cupid is lying on a ribbon on which is engraved " Arthur Vtes sr SOUVENIR CHEZELLES 4 JUIN 1870". The significance of which I am not sure.
The silvering has slightly worn and together with the ormolu gives a warm and gentle effect. The mirror is fully adjustable and the bevelled mirror glass is in excellent condition.
