A superb and monumental pair of breche violet marble and ormolu mounted urns. The superb bodies with beautifully carved and polished reeding. The finely cast and finished mounts with their original ormolu ( as yet uncleaned) in perfect condition. The mounts to the square base are all inset in the marble rather than applied to it. The urns are almost certainly by a maker such as Henri Dasson but so far no signature has been found. They are of monumental size being 20 inches high and 18.5 inches wide ( 50 cms by 46.25 cms) and each one weighs in excess of 100 pounds. They are truly monumental. French circa 1880.
