Ormolu Charles X mantel clock of very small size and fine quality. The case with original fire gilt/mercury ormolu is of the classical double rectangle form. It features a troubador in 17th century dress playing a flute. The case is surmounted by a fine ormolu mount with musical trophies, laurel leaves and oak. Below the dial are flaming torches of love with roses between and the base is cast with more musical trophies with ribbons and bows, a very romantic piece. The beautiful bracket feet display a forget-me-not flower between acanthus leaves. The gilt engine turned dial has been cleaned but the numerals are being touched in as necessary. The movement is an early 30 hour fusee watch movement signed Romilly a Paris. French circa 1820 9 inches high by 6 inches wide by 2.5 inches deep ( 22.5 cms by 15 cms by 6.25 cms).
