A rare and beautifully carved ivory inkstand coloured and carved to simulate stag horn the two inkwells carved in relief with Stags and Does. The inkwell, sander and "pin" container covers with stag finials. The oblong base with finely carved and decorated loop handles , all resting on four massive and very well carved ivory paw feet. Southern German circa 1880. Dimensions Width 12.8 inches by depth 7.25 inches and height 6.5 inches ( 32 cms by 18 cms by 16 cms).
