An ormolu and crystal mantel clock of lyre form with pendulum above the movement. Of the Charles X period the clock is set on block bracket feet with the bases decorated with forget-me-not flowers and acanthus leaves.
The clock is set in the base of the lyre and four columns of crystal, set in ormolu capitals and bases, rise to form the arms of the lyre. Four crystal spherical finials sit on the top. The cross piece holds a bust of Apollo and at each end is a fine bud terminal. The block on which the bust of Apollo sits also has an applied floral mount and holds the strings of the lyre and the block for the pendulum.
The movement is of 8 day duration and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. The dial is silvered and engine turned and has blued steel Breguet moon hands.
The crystal is in good unrestored condition and the ormolu is original. It is most unusual to see a clock of this type to survive in such original condition.
