A good silver gilt and imperial yellow guilloche enamel singing bird box. Of extremely complicated but quite beautiful form. The case with 18 individual imperial yellow guilloche enamel panels plus a handpainted enamel scene to the lid. Further black enamel is found in four points at each end of the box. A quite magnificent boxThe enamel in superb condition and having a fine handpainted enamel painting of a courting couple to the lid. It stands upon four turned ivory feet. On pressing the enamel operating lever the enamel portrait lid opens and the full bodied bird pops through the grille & begins singing. It has a moving beak, the bird turns, flaps his wings and tail and after his performance pops down through the grille & the lid lowers 5 inches wide by 3 inches deep by 2.75 inches high ( 12.5 cms by 7.5 cms by 7 cms).
