Singing bird box in silver and electric blue guilloche enamel.

Singing bird box in silver and electric blue guilloche enamel.
Another superb experimental piece by Karl Griesbaum, a singing bird cabinet in beautiful silver gilt, iridescent blue guilloche enamel and ivory. Very fine details and exquisite workmanship. The box stands upon silver and enamel cabriole legs and the singing bird box is in the shape of a cabinet with canted corners on which are applied silver motifs. The base is decorated with silver gilt pierced freize. Each side has a silver laurel wreath. The front of the cabinet with pull down panel with silver gilt mounts, the back also with full panel of iridescent blue guilloche enamel bordered with white enamel lines. The top has a superbpale white iridescent panel which throws out all the colours of the rainbow. On top of the cabinet stands a silver gilt bird cage. Within the cage the bird sings, moves from left to right and flaps his wings on pulling a silver lever within the pull down panel. Circa 1920. 23 cms by 11 cms by 7 cms. This model is slightly larger than the first. It is also signed by Karl Griesbaum and carries the serial number EX 101 which we relates to Experimental model 1. We believe that we possess the only two versions of these singing bird cabinets ever made. The movements are of a far higher calibre than the run of the mill Griesbaum movements.
