A good Grand Tour bust in patinated bronze of Marcus Aurelius, the last of the "Five Good Emperors". He was born in 121, became Emperor in 161 and remained so until his death at the age of 59 in 180. He was considered an important Stoic philosopher. This bust is very well modelled and the hair is treated particularly well as is the colour of the patination. Italian circa 1880. 6 inches tall ( 15cm).
