Antique French ormolu clock on a shaped white marble base. A most amusing little clock with the drum case set on the top of a wine vessel which in turn is sitting on a cart being pulled by two putti. In fact only one of the children is doing any work as the one who should be pushing is sitting on the back of the cart while the other does all the work. All original gilding and all very well cast with vine leaves and grapes pouring out of the wine vessel and further trailing vines over the handle. Good white enamel convex dial with pierced and gilt hands. The 8 day timepiece movement which is key wound and regulated by a platform lever escapement is numbered 285. France circa 1880. 10 inches high ( 25 cms)
