French Empire/early Charles X ormolu mantel clock of very small size.
Set upon four toupee feet the clock housing sits upon a horizontal rectangle of ormolu to the front of which are applied swags of flowers and rosettes.
The movement and dial are set in a dome topped housing to the left of the clock with an applied mount below the dial of butterflies drinking from a fountain. Set upon the dome is an ormolu flaming heart.
To the right of the clock can be seen a cupid striding off with bow in hand and quiver at feet, his work obviously done, the lovers heart is on fire.
The gilt and engine turned dial is surrounded by a fine ormolu bezel. The hands are of Breguet moon form and are of blued steel.
The movement is of 8 day duration and is regulated by a silk suspended pendulum.
