Pair English Regency naïve ormolu candlesticks with King Charles spaniels.

Pair English Regency naïve ormolu candlesticks with King Charles spaniels.
A rare and unusual true pair of naïve ormolu English Regency candlesticks. Set upon each rectangular base is a King Charles spaniel in repose. Behind the spaniel is a branch with leaves and fruit terminating in a candle sconce and original drip pan. The work is certainly not that of London being quite crude in the interpretation of the dogs but is certainly of the style of the Regency. The candlesticks are a true pair and not two of the same as the dogs are facing each other. The design on the candlesconce is quite elaborate with lines of beading , stars and ropework. The gilding is intact and the candlesticks are weighted with cast iron and each stick is held by two rods with original threads and nuts. English circa 1820-30. 5 inches high by 3 inches wide by 2 inches deep ( 12.5 cms by 7.5 cms by 5 cms).
