Antique French Blackamoor or Pendule au Negre mantel clock. Lovely quality and with original ormolu and patinated bronze. The figure in ormolu skirt and having enamel eyes stands holding the clock above his head. The circular base on paw feet is decorated with masks and swags in ormolu. Fine convex enamel dial with blued steel hands. 8 day movement with silk suspended pendulum, striking the hours and halves upon a cast bell by means of countwheel striking. Flat plated movement. Movement by Vaillant, a famous maker. France circa 1804. 14 inches high ( 35 cm).
