Palais Royal antique musical inkwell and stationary casket.

A magnificent Palais Royal musical inkwell and stationary casket.
The casket with a very fine ormolu frame in bands decorated with flowers stands upon four superb ormolu winged paw feet.
The lock escutcheon to the front is in the form of ormolu corcucopis. To the back of the casket giving support to the frame are ormolu female figures. Every piece of ormolu is of first quality and all the ormolu is original.
The mother of pearl panels are beautifully engraved and in excellent condition. The central oval panel to the opening lid of the casket is engraved with a basket of flowers and is held in place by further ormolu mounts.
To the front top of the casket are an inkwell and a sander, both of finest cut glass with superb ormolu lids of a quality I have not seen before. These are held in place by ormolu frames held together by three mounts of vases of flowers. To the centre is a cut glass dish which could have been used as a pin tray or for a holder for a sponge.
To operate the two air musical movement there are two gilt levers to the side of the case. It is an early movement with a very fine sound with extensive trilling.
