Singing bird box in silver and hand painted enamel, Griesbaum No 7 in original case.

Singing bird box in silver and hand painted enamel, Griesbaum No 7 in original case.
A silver and enamel singing bird box by Griesbaum in its original box. This is his model number 7 which was always the most expensive and elaborate of his output. An outstanding version of this beautiful singing bird model in fine condition and perfect working order. The enamel painting to the top and the lid is outstanding. The work to the sides is also exceptional with painted scenes and superb enamelling. On sliding the operating lever the enamel lid opens and the full bodied bird pops through the grille & begins singing. It has a moving beak, the bird turns, flaps his wings and tail and after his performance pops down through the grille & the lid lowers. Don't be fooled by modern late 20th and 21 st century copies in gilt bronze and poor painting with plastic gears. This is the real thing. Made in circa 1930 in solid silver. 4 inches wide by 2.75 inches deep by 1.75 inches high ( 10 cms by 7 cms by 4.4 cms).
