Antique French mantel clock in ormolu and blue enameled globe.
An attractive antique French ormolu and enamelled mantel clock. A putti sits on each side of the orb shaped clock housing . They hold swags of flowers dropping down from the finial of two ormolu doves. Beside the putti are swags of acanthus leaf decoration. The clocks stands on four elaborate ormolu feet. The clock housing in the shape of an orb is enamelled with deep blue enamel and has gilt Roman hour chapters fixed to the front. The hands are in the form of serpents. The movement is of 8 days duration and strikes the hours on a bell. France circa 1880. 13 inches high by 13.5 inches wide by 7 inches deep ( 32.5 cms by 33.75 cms by 17.5 cms)
