Antique French Empire mantel clock in ormolu with a classically draped woman to the right hand side with a libation cup at her feet, and a triform altar table to the left with a perpetual flame.
To the top of the clock an ormolu tazza and a mask head below.
To the base of the clock a superb applied ormolu mount of cupid lying down among his trophies flanked to each side by an applied mount of a lyre.
To each side of the clock is an applied ormolu mount of a horned human head.
The clock stands upon four superb ormolu toupee feet.
The dial is of white convex enamel with Roman hour chapters and blued steel moon hands. The dial is signed Lachere a Paris. The dial itself is surrounded by a very fine ormolu bezel.
The movement is of 8 day duration striking the hours and halves on a bell by means of a countwheel. The clock is regulated by a steel suspended pendulum.
Lachere was known to have been working in the Rue du Chantre, Paris in 1812.
