Animalier bronze of a pair of bronze hunting dogs signed A Dubucand.
A good animalier bronze of a pair of hunting dogs on an oval base. Superbly cast and very well finished this is a great bronze of hunting dogs at work, one getting the scent, the other with head up and looking for the prey. Both dogs tails' are up and the artist has caught the power in the dogs' chests and hindquarters.. Set on oval base. Alfred Dubucand was especially well known for his bronzes of working dogs and this particular piece is very well known and extremely popular. This piece is sand cast bronze but hand finished to a very high degree of detail. Alfred Dubucand 1828-1894, a pupil of the great Barye. France circa 1870. 4.75 inches high by 6 inches wide and 2.75 inches deep ( 11.875 cms by 15 cms by 5.5 cms).
