Palais Royal engraved mother of pearl and ormolu cupid celebrating wine..
An attractive Palais Royal piece dating from the early 19th century and possibly fom the workshop of Thomire. The ormolu child stands upon an ormolu ball over a finely engraved piece of mother-of-pearl, the decoration is of a trailing vine with bunches of grapes. The base is a well cast ring of ormolu decorated with flower heads. The child with a belt of vine leaves around his waist and a head dress of vines and grapes holds up above his head an ormolu ring of vine and grapes. French circa 1820. 7 inches high by 4 inch diameter at the base ( 17.5 cms by 10 cms).
