Tortoiseshell and silver inlaid antique mantel clock.
English and Edwardian this is a very pretty and unusual case. The tortoiseshell veneers have been laid over a gold ground on the carcase which results in a very deep lustrous gold colour to the tortoiseshell.
Further it is unusual for a case of this kind to be inlaid so profusely with silver. Normally this is restricted to simple lines. However in this case the case has been inlaid in silver with bows and swags of harebells.
The very clear white enamel convex dial is marked in both Roman and Arabic numerals and has blued steel moon hands and is surrounded by a fine bezel.
The movement is an eight day timepiece movement regulated by a cylinder escapement.
English circa 1905.
