Antique ormolu and marble lidded urns, Napoleon IIIrd period France.
Fine and untouched condition with no damage to the marble and original ormolu to the mounts.
Set on a shaped square marble base with four inset ormolu panels of Greek key and forget-me-not flowers.
The ormolu socle as an acanthus leaf and dart ring rising to an ormolu cup of acanthus leaf and flower holding the classically shaped antique vert marble body.
The ormolu handles are of pairs of well modelled serpents running around the shoulders of the urn and then the tails inter-twined running down the body of the marble.
The marble then elegantly becomes more shallow to the top and the rim is surrounded by ormolu leaves and the small lid has a bud finial over a floral cap.
Very fine quality, excellent mantel piece size and stamped to the each base B.D.
