A large and unusual antique French thermometer incorporating a bronze of Napoleon standing upon a silvered bronze column. The base of patinated bronze with bracket feet and having stiff leaf moulding and a gilt bronze wreath. The cylindrical silvered bronze column with both Réaumur and Fahrenheit scales. The bronze of Napoleon has him with one arm tucked into his coat and the other holding a document. France circa 1850. 17.5 inches high by 4.25 inches square at the base (43.75 cms by 10.625 cms).
