High quality French Empire ormolu mantel clock.
The ormolu in fine original condition.
Set upon a rectangular base with stiff leaf and dart moulding.
An applied ormolu mount to the front of the base of two intertwined wreaths with musical and horticultural trophies within.
On the base a woman in classical clothing and fine face and features stands next to the clock housing on which is what appears to be a fountain with a pair of turtle doves and a drape.
Below the dial is another applied mount with turtle doves, trumpets and flowers.
The bezel surrounding the gilt bronze dial is made up of roses.
The movement is of 8 day duration regulated by a silk suspended pendulum and strikes the hours and halves on a bell.
The clock stands on an oval base and under a glass dome.
A delightful and very original clock, almost certainly bought to celebrate an engagement or marriage.
