An Italian Grand Tour version of Skipios' tomb in Sienna marble of good deep colour. Very well worked with volutes, acanthus leaves and flowers. Latin text to the front proper. Set upon a black marble base. A copy of the tomb of the famous Roman General and Consul. 6 inches wide by 3.5 inches high and 2 inches deep ( 15 cms by 8.75 cms by 5 cms). Italian, circa 1860
