Antique attractive and very unusual cassolette in the form of a classical oil lamp.
Almost certainly English Regency but also harking back to the work of Boissot in France in the late Louis XVIth period.
Original ormolu and fine patinated bronze all in excellent original condition.
The handle in the form of a bird and attached to the body by Acanthus leaf.
The decorartive cover with swirl finial bud turns over to reveal a candle holder.
The circular base parcel gilt and decorated in a style almost only used in England rising to a rope twist beading and a swept stem and ormolu floral cradle holding the body of the lamp.
English Regency circa 1805-10.
