A good gilt bronze, ivory and watercolour sculpture of a Rennaissance page boy by Rene Marquet.
Very well modelled and cast with fine ivory head and hands.

The page carries a casket with a watercolour on ivory painting. The casket is hinged and opens.
The page's clothes are clearly of the finest quality and he is be-decked with ribbons and bows and has large bows on his shoes.
The bronze is fully signed by the artist and also has a foundry stamp to the base and stamped RG and also marked 7 in two places.
Rene Paul Marquet born Port Louis on July 5th 1875. He studied painting and sculpture under Emmanuel Fontaine and Jean Falguiere respectively and exhibited figures at the Salon des Artistes Francais getting an honourable mention in 1909.
