Antique tortoiseshell, gold and carved ivory circular French snuff box from the late 18th or early 19th century. Of exceptional quality and condition. The base and sides of pressed and patterned tortoiseshell. The lid with gold bezel and convex glass top. Inside a bead work lozenge with green glass background a finely carved ivory scene of a courting couple in a verdant landscape. The lozenge is surrounded by beadwork on a translucent background. Circa 1800. 3 inch diameter by 1 inch height ( 7.5 cm by 2.5 cm).
