Antique French mantel clock of Charles X period. Patinated bronze and ormolu with the figure of a putti, semi draped sitting upon ormolu steps. The very smart case with predominantly patinated bronze panels but this broken with fine original ormolu elements. The clock set upon ormolu bracket feet decorated with husks and forget-me-not flowers. The rectangular base topped with an ormolu moulding of Acanthus feaf and dart decoration. The front corners of the case mounted with fine be-ribboned ormolu flambeaux. Above the dial a further moulding with more leaf and dart decoration. The silvered dial with glass covered bezel. Cut brass hands. The movement of 8 day duration regulated by a silk suspended pendulum and striking the hours and halves on a fine cast bell by means of countwheel strike. France circa 1823.
