Antique French Empire miniature mantel clock of a dancing baccante in ormolu and patinated bronze.
A French Empire bronze and ormolu miniature mantel timepiece. The case modelled as a dancing bacchante. She holds castanets in one hand and holds in her other a large tambourine supported over her right shoulder. She dances above a ewer and bowl, on an oval base, applied with a basket and vine frieze. All set upon beautifully cast and turned feet. Convex white enamel dial with Roman numerals and blued steel hands surrounded by a fine ormolu bezel. 8 day silk suspension movement. France circa 1810. 10 inches high by 5 inches wide and 3.5 inches deep ( 25 cm by 12.5 cm by 8.75 cms).
