Beautiful patina on this powerful scupture of a horse set on a shaped rouge marble base.
Piere Louis Rouillard was born in Paris in 1820 and died there in 1881.
He studied under Cortot and entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts at the age of 17 in 1837.
His famous statue "Cheval" from which this bronze is taken is now in the square of the Musee d'Orsay.
This bronze is also marked Exposition 1878.
