Antique and very fine French Palais Royal music box and necessaire. The gilt bronze frame with floral decoration and set upon four bracket feet. The box has eight mother-of-pearl plaques inset to the front, back and sides. To the top is a large convex oval mother-of-pearl plaque of outstanding colour and engraved with a basket of flowers. The oval plaque is surrounded by a gilt bronze bezel and four further mother-of-pearl plaques to each corner. On opening the necessaireby pressing the button to front centre the lid lifts to reveal various tools. The fine musical movement to the base is set off by the button to front left while the tune is changed by the button to front right. The musical movement is wound from below.
