French antique hand painted and jewelled porcelain and ormolu mantel clock. Of the finest quality.
Every one of the porcelain plaques that make up the clock are signed and numbered. The painting of the porcelain is of outstanding quality and of the best seen at the end of the 19th century when this clock was made.
All of the porcelain is fully jewelled and in excellent condition.
The ormolu is in mint and absolutely original condition .
Set upon four toupee feet the clock is of square form with full size porcelain panels to each side. The painting of these panels is within red jewelled borders and consists of on one side a lyre and flute hanging from ribbons with flowers and sheet music. On the other side is a bag pipe with straw hat and a hanging basket of flowers.
The jewelled dial with cupid and below the chapter ring ( all jewelled) a figure of venus with a cupid.
The clock is surmounted with a fine porcelain and ormolu urn, the porcelain jewelled and with fine a painting of a cupid to the front and a large relief of flowers to the reverse.
Fine 8 day movement striking the hours and halves on a bell with steel suspended pendulum.
