A pair of beautiful and unusual antique English gold mounted carved shell cameos of Cupid and Psyche on English black marble base. Very finely carved and clearly conceived as a pair and mounted together from inception. Each cut of the sculpting tool can be seen under a strong glass, quite extraordinary. Late 18th early 19th century. Circa 1800. 4.25 inches wide by 2.75 inches deep by .5625 inches high ( 10.625 cm by 6.875 cm by 1.4 cm) each oval is 1.875 inches high by 1.625 inches wide ( 4.69 cm by 4.06 cm).
