Antique French automaton striking mantel clock with moving water and waterwheel.
The clock in the form of a gothic defended watermill in patinated bronze and original fine ormolu.
The mill has ormolu windows and doors and silvered bronze mill stream on which sits a waterwheel which turns and two glass rods that also rotate giving the impression of driving the wheel.
This automaton is set off on the hour by the clock mechaism.
The automaton movement is a large movment, key wound set in the base.
The clock movement is a good 8 day silk suspended movement striking the hours and halves on a bell.
France circa 1835-40.
