The classical Egyptian figures bare chested with loin cloth and head dress stands with shackles on his wrists and chains to lions head masks on the stems. The patinated bronze stems with three vertical rows of hieroglyphics and set upon circular ormolu bases with concentric circles of design and set upon three small ormolu bun feet. These delightful English Regency candlesticks echo the intense interest in all things relating to ancient Egypt around the turn of the 18th century when these were made.
