These superb candlesticks date from the early 19th century but are in the Louis XVth style.
Two young bacchanalian women naked except for a lion's pelt kneel on hexagonal bases each holding up a candle holder.
Around the base a fine circular ring of acanthus leaf decoration.
The drip pan and candle sconce are both decorated in celebration of the vine.
The ormolu is original and fire or mercury gilded.
