Solid gold and enamel aide memoire with a fine watch inside, complicated locking mechanisms and a secret space for a hidden miniature of a loved one or a lover. Original paper and solid gold propelling pencil. The quality of the enamel is quite superb, possibly the best painting that I have ever seen. 10.6 cm by 7.0 cm by 2.4 cm. Swiss circa 1840. The clockmaker is Carlo Pizzala the clockmaker to Queen Elizabeth II of Spain. The piece dates to circa 1840, perhaps a little earlier.
