Antique automaton bronze mantel clock with moving water mechanism and hunting scene.

Antique automaton bronze mantel clock with moving water mechanism and hunting scene.
Antique French Romantic period automaton Hunting Theme mantel clock in patinated and gilt bronze with cut glass. The theme is of hunting with a mountain goat on the top of the clock modelled as a rocky crag. A Hunter sits resting to the left of the clock while his hunting dog is to the right. Water in the form of an automata runs out of the rocks as a waterfall and into the cut glass pond which holds the water. The Hunter in typical 18th/19th century hunting dress with cap, jacket and boots and with a game bag over his shoulder and powder bag in his hand. Ormolu reeds surround the waterfall and the base has fine ormolu griffin feet. The 8 day movement with gilt dial is regulated by a silk suspended pendulum. A separate and large key wound movement with endless screw mechanism runs the automaton. French, Romantic period circa 1835-40. This is an extremely rare model which I have never seen before. Automaton clocks of this early period are rare and one with a hunting theme is very rare indeed. 16 inches high by 9.5 inches wide by 5.5 inches deep (40 cm by 23.75 cm by 13.75 cm)).
