A very good four glass mantel clock and candelabra clock set. The superb clock with origial gilding is of a vertical rectangular shape with an ormolu mounted urn to the top. The base of the clock is of white marble and has an ormolu frieze recessed into the marble ( rather than applied, a cheaper process). The glasses to the sides and front have ormolu mounts applied to them. All the glasses are bevelled at the edges. The dial is of convex white enamel and the hour chapters have Arabic numerals. The dial is protected by a glazed ormolu bezel. The movement is of 8 day duration, bell striking the hours and halves by rack strike. The steel suspended pendulum has a starburst bob. The two candelabra are very elegant and have a white marble base with recessed ormolu floral mount. The stem of the candelabras are of reeded white marble. The candelabras have an ormolu urn finial to the centre. A very fine and large three piece set. France circa 1880. 18 inches high by 8.75 inches wide by 5.5 inches deep.
