Antique French Charles X period patinated bronze and ormolu mantel clock of a stallion.
Original ormolu and patination to the bronze.
The clock stands upon fine scrolling ormolu feet with rectangular patinated bronze base on which is a superb ormolu moulding of Acanthus leaf.
The stallion, finely modelled in patinated bronze, stands upon a naturalistic base of grass and flowers in fine original ormolu.
The dial is set in the patinated bronze clock housing with the silvered bronze dial within an ormolu bezel in turn flanked by two applied ormolu floral mounts.
The silvered dial is signed Dessieux a Rennes and has blued steel moon hands.
The 8 day movement is regulated by it's original numbered silk suspended pendulum. The clock strikes the hours and halves on a bell by means of a countwheel system. The backplate of the movement is stamped with the Pons mark.
The pendulum, case and movement are all stamped with the number 1966.
