A fine antique silver gilt and enamel snuff box. The box with hinged lid and canted corners is decorated with enamel upon every surface even the bottom of the box. The lid has a very fine painting of lovers surounded by cupids and a pair of turtle doves in the forground. The shape of the scene, which mirrors the shape of the box, is surrounded by lines of white enamel and beading with a thick layer of irridescent green enamel with hatched decoration within. The sides are panels of deep blue enamel with brickwork decoration. The bottom with a large panel of deep blue guilloche enamel with sunburst decoration and surrounded by lines of white enamel and the green irridescent guilloche enamel. Unmarked, almost certainly Swiss and circa 1880. 3 inches wide by 2 inches deep by.75 inches high ( 7.5 cm by 5 cm by1.875 cm).
