Very attractive antique French Empire ormolu Mantel clock of Venus.
Venus stands on the right hand side of the clock in classical dress.
On the left hand side are two entwined flaming torches as an allegory of love.
To the top of the clock is a tazza on which perch two butterflies.
Below the dial are foliate swags on which perch two turtle doves.
The rectangular base stands upon four well decorated ormolu feet.
To the base of the clock are fine applied ormolu mounts of three classical urns between foliage.
The white convex enamel dial with blued steel hands is surrounded by a fine ormolu bezel of stiff leaf and dart pattern.
The movement is of 8 day duration regulated by a silk suspended pendulum and striking the hours and halves on a fine cast bell.
