Antique French Empire portico clock in patinated and gilt bronze and by the celebrated maker Leroy a Paris.
Set upon four bun feet and a rectangular patinated bronze base, the clock rises on four patinated bronze columns set on stepped bases with gilt bronze masks to the front and rosettes to all other sides. The columns have elaborate bases and capitals.
The pediment has a laurel leaf frieze and is surmounted by a figure of cupid in a chariot being drawn by a sheep or lamb.
The beautiful dial is surrounded by an octagonal patinated bronze shield with fine floral decoration in gilt bronze at top and bottom.
The bezel to the dial is very finely and beautifully cast and decorated with beeding and elaborate Greek Key decoration.
The white enamel convex dial with Roman hour chapters and Arabic numerals for the minutes at every quarter. It has very fine gilt bronze hands and is signed to the dial Leroy a Paris.
The large silk suspended pendulum movement strikes the hours and halves on a cast bell by means of the countwheel system of striking.
