Antique late English Regency naïve true pair of animalier candlesticks of greyhounds and squirrels.

Antique late English Regency naïve true pair of animalier candlesticks of greyhounds and squirrels.
Antique late English Regency naïve true pair of animalier candlesticks of greyhounds and squirrels. In patinated bronze and on rectangular bases, these are a true pair rather than two identical candlesticks. As you can see the dogs face each other rather than both facing the same way if they were just copies of a single model. Lovely simple naturalistic scene of dogs lying below trees with squirrels sitting on branches. The candleholders set on the top of the trees are very attractive and typical of the late Regency with knirling patterns around the centre and concentric circles making up the candle holders. English circa 1820. 7.2 inches high by 5.3 inches wide and 2.25 inches deep ( 18 cm by 13.25 cm by 5.625 cm).
