To the left of the beehive is the figure of Demeter the Greek godess of agriculture holding a cornucopis in one hand and a laurel spray in the other. To the right can be seen a plough and bow.
The base has a fine and unusual scene cast in high relief of Demeter in a chariot being drawn by a lion with a rural scene of plenty.
All set on bracket feet decorated with cornucopia.
It has a foliate decorated dial with Roman numerals.
8 day silk suspended pendulum movement striking the hours and halves on a fine cast bell by means of countwheel striking.
France circa 1820.
