Fine antique Italian mosaic on to black marble in giltwood frame. Of the very finest quality, with the smallest tesserae. The scxene is from classical mythology and appears to be of Apollo in his chariot drawn by horses and surrounded by his muses. They are flying over the earth and in the right hand lower corner can be seen a town and port on the coast. Probably Italian. 7.5 inches by 5 inches the frame and 4.5 inches by 3 inches the mosaic itself ( 18.75 cm by 12.5 cm and 11.25 cm and 7.5 cm).
